I met Fiona in 1988 when we shared a flat for 9 months while undertaking the burns and plastics nursing course in London.
She introduced me to rugby. Especially the All Blacks - who I still follow!
The sight of Fiona in front of the TV performing the Haka with the All Blacks during the World Cup was a sigh to behold! Once seen it could never be unseen and the memory was buried in my memory forever!
We laughed a lot during those months. We went our separate ways - I stayed in nursing and Fiona went into Law but we always stayed in contact. - Those special events. My graduation, Fiona’s graduation, my wedding. Always bringing her hilarious humour and never an iota of sarcasm!
When I lived in Cyprus with my husbands job, Fiona and Maggie visited for 2 weeks.- at the same time as 2 feral kittens moved into our garden. Dave was adamant we would not be taking 2 cats back to the UK along with our 3 rescued street dogs! But, after 2 weeks of Maggie and Fiona chipping away he would have agreed to anything! - 11 years later the ‘Princess Smokie’ is still living the dream in North Cornwall. Forever grateful …as a quiet and gentle soul she would never have survived in Cyprus.
For that we thank you.
Thank you also for the times shared and fun shared. With much love, and see you at the ‘Rainbow Bridge’ xx
